Nothing, quite literally, ties an outfit together like a classic leather belt. If you find the right one, it can stay with you for a lifetime maturing naturally in its color and markings. For me, there are two specific belts that have been with me for over 15 years. One tan leather belt, I purchased on a trip to Italy in Rome’s Campo de Fiori made from gorgeous Florentine leather. It has the perfect thickness and an extremely versatile coloring that I can use to accessorize with countless outfits. There is a chance I may take this one to the grave with me. The other, admittedly, purchased at my local H&M due to its perfect brown coloring (which sounds terrible coming onto this page, but makes sense if you love leather as much as I do and have experienced this perfection.) This traditional and timeless braided belt somehow goes with any bottom I weave it through. One of my all-time favorite combinations is a cashmere sweater, my favorite dark denim, and a pair of black leather loafers! Again, the markings make this leather belt more and more personal to me with each wear. It’s like seeing an old friend who looks better and better every time I pull it out of my closet. Like a classic black dress, no closet is complete without a go-to leather belt that will stand the test of time. If it feels like your outfit is missing something, it is probably is, and a classic belt is your answer.
