As a woman, wearing a dress is one of the most iconic, feminine things you can do. From a basic, white knit tank dress to a silk, floor-length goddess gown, dresses are going to get you the attention you are looking for from your male counterparts. In the professional world, the right dress commands not only attention but respect and gives you confidence and power. I especially like to wear dresses when it rains. Throw on some heels or outfit-appropriate boots and you instantly feel better about the weather and the way you look. One of my favorite memories of a day spent visiting old friends in Manhattan revolves around a dress that I kept for many years after until it was worn to the bone. It was a classic knit white tank dress from American Apparel with my to-the-knee black Wellington boots. The sun was shining but there were tons of puddles left from the night before rain shower. My accessories were a solid blowout with shining hair, sunglasses, and a clutch. Plus, my husband and good friends at my side. We walked around lower Manhattan, rode subway routes, and took a water-taxi to Brooklyn – it was a fantastic day and I was so comfortable and felt so beautiful that I remember it now like it was yesterday.
There are countless dress options and genres. So much so that you could wear a dress every day of the week! A classic blue chambray dress to represent those warm, memorable summer picnics and holidays. A long, flowing silky gown with your favorite flats and most comfortable wrap or sweater running your errands in spring and fall, and an all-time favorite buffalo check dress to make a cold winter day feel bright.
Dresses can be worn alone without very little thought to anything else other than shoes! I say, the more the merrier when it comes to buying dresses, especially when they are made with quality materials by reputable manufacturers.
