Linen. I pause after saying this word because up until the past 5 years I have had an uncertain relationship with this fabric. Movement throughout your normal day, packing for any kind of trip, or even looking at the article of clothing the wrong way all caused wrinkling. In a fast pace, busy lifestyle I had no time for this. I needed performance knits that could have me looking put together no matter what activity I was engaging in. After giving linen a bit more of my grace and trying more pieces I slowly realized my true appreciation for it. The obvious warm weather scenarios is where the lightweight, breathable fabric swooned me into a lover. Something that has been in use by human beings for thousands of years deserves all of our attention and at least a trial. If linen has been used since ancient times, I would say that this is the epitome of a timeless classic – the actual original. Pants, shirts, dresses – it is available in any silhouette you can imagine. Wear it in a classic white or flax for the purest wardrobe staple you could own. My absolute favorite choice for linen is a bathing suit cover up with shiny white buttons! This is a piece you could and should, literally, own forever.
